 Segment 1 Information

COVID-19 INFORMATION:

§  All students must wear a mask during class and while in the car.

§  Class sizes are limited to 9 students, so please pick a second choice class.

§  High touch areas in the classroom will be cleaned between classes.

§  High touch areas in the car will be cleaned between drivers.

§  Students need to wait outside until right before class starts, no loitering in the hallways/commons.

§  Make-up days will be handled individually for students who need them.

§  Please be patient and flexible as we don't know what changes COVID-19 will bring to the schedule.

To register, fill out the contract (form is two-sided), include a copy of birth certificate, COVID-19 Acknowledgment Form, and deposit, and turn in to main office at Linden High School.

·         Student must be 14 years and 8 months by the 1st day of Segment 1 class.

·         Total fee for the class is $350.00.  A deposit of $50.00 is required to hold a spot.  The balance is due two business days before the class starts.  $15.00 NSF fee.

·         Please make sure completed contract has:

o   Parent signatures

o   Student signatures

o   A copy of student's birth certificate

o   A deposit of $50.00

o   COVID-19 Parent/Student Acknowledgment Form signed

o   All questions answered and blanks filled in

·

·         The 24 hours of classroom instruction does not include driving sessions.  Driving instruction includes 6 hours of driving for each student and at least 4 hours of backseat observation.  Drives are scheduled the first day of class and are chosen by the students outside of the regularly scheduled class time.  Weekday drive times will be on days/times the students are not attending school.  We will utilize the Linden McDonald's parking lot for pick-ups as usual, but the building lobby is closed, so please wait with student in your car.  Drives will start at 6:30 a.m. on weekends.  In-district students will be dropped off at home after driving.  Driving groups are usually made up of three students.  Driving groups generally finish a few days after the classroom portion.

·         Your student needs to be available for weekend drives.  Also, before the first day of class, please make sure that your student is aware of the family activities during the course of driver's ed so that they do not sign up to drive at the same time as a family event.  Please make sure your student is aware of their own schedule and does not sign up to drive when they have sports/cheer/student council/a dentist appointment, etc. Last, if your student has regular visitation with a non-custodial parent, work it out with that parent how the drive schedule will be handled before the first day of class.  Except in the case of sudden illness/injury, drives should not need to be rescheduled.  If there is a need to reschedule, the student/parent needs to contact the driving instructor directly.

·         If Linden High School does not have school, (inclement weather, holiday, break, power outage, teacher Professional Development, etc.) there will be no driver's ed classes.

·         While providing an e-mail is optional, regular e-mail updates are sent.  Reminder postcards will be mailed prior to each class.

·         Please note that we no longer accept credit/debit cards.

If you have further questions, please call, e-mail, or check out the website.  Thank you for your business.
